Visma, a European provider of business software, has acquired Finmatics, a company specialising in pre-accounting software.
The latest deal marks Visma’s fifth purchase in the DACH region (Germany, Austria and Switzerland) within the last four years.
Finmatics’ AI-powered solution aids professional accountants by automating financial tasks such as invoice handling and accounting data exchange.
This integration streamlines operations and allows accountants to focus on delivering higher-value advisory services to their clients, the company noted.
With compatibility across most accounting systems, Finmatics facilitates document collection, extraction, and categorisation, fostering better collaboration between accountants and their clients.
Finmatics managing director and co-founder Christoph Prieler said: “As founders of Finmatics we are very happy to become part of the Visma family, where we can continue to drive the growth of Finmatics in an entrepreneurial fashion while benefiting from the vast accounting and technology expertise of the entire Visma Group.”
Despite the change in ownership, Finmatics will continue to operate under its existing brand and management team.
The company employs more than 120 individuals across Austria, Germany, and Hungary and serves over 1200 accounting offices and small to medium-sized businesses in Austria and Germany.
Visma CEO Merete Hverven said: “We are very excited to welcome Finmatics to the Visma family, and broaden our core product offering to accountants in the DACH-region. We have been impressed by Finmatics high product quality and strong customer satisfaction.
“Backed by the joint capabilities of Visma, we believe that we can make an even greater impact in the market together.”
Visma’s acquisition strategy in the DACH region has previously included firms such as BuchhaltungsButler, H&H, and Pathway Solutions in Germany, as well as Prosaldo in Austria.
The software group now comprises nearly 200 individual companies operating in 33 countries.
In 2024, Visma invested in Bizzcontrol, a Belgian company that develops advisory software for accountants.
Its platform is designed to help accountants and entrepreneurs in Belgium easily analyse financial data, identify trends, and simulate future scenarios.
The Ghent-based business simplifies complex figures into actionable insights, aiding better decision-making.
