Midlands-based accounting and advisory firm PKF Smith Cooper has welcomed a new audit director this month, continuing the growth of their professional team.

Richard Haydon, joining the firm as audit director, has over 20 years’ experience as an auditor, and is a fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants. He is one of three director hires for PKF Smith Cooper this year and will be joining the Birmingham branch of the firm, continuing the team’s expansion.

After spending time working in small and medium-sized practices, Haydon has experience with an impressive range of clients, from small owner-managed companies to larger groups that see a turnover of more than £100m. Throughout his career, he has developed specialisms in manufacturing, engineering, sales and distribution sectors, and has experienced knowledge in statutory reporting.

On his new career at PKF Smith Cooper, Haydon said: “I am looking forward to joining the firm and working with a dedicated team of trusted accountants and business advisors. I am excited to work in unison with the wider PKF network and our member firms across the world.”

PKF Smith Cooper audit and accounts partner, Stephen Newman, said: “We are thrilled to be welcoming Richard to the team and continuing our expansion journey throughout the firm. His wide range of experience in his role and specific sectors will strengthen our team greatly and Richard will be a valuable asset to our growing client base.”
