Joel Segal, partner and chair of PwC’s Africa Business Group, has been appointed as chair of TheCityUK’s Sub-Saharan Africa Market Advisory Group.
The Sub-Saharan Africa Market Advisory Group was established in June 2012 in recognition of the growing trade and investment opportunities across the region.
Segal said: “My overriding goal is to help create sustainable wealth for the continent so I’m thrilled to be appointed as chair of TheCityUK’s Sub-Saharan Africa group.
International Valuation Standards Council CEO
Nick Talbot has been appointed CEO of the International Valuation Standards Council (IVSC).
Talbot was formerly interim CEO of the IVSC on a part time basis from June 2015 till March 2016, before that he spent 13 years in a variety of international, senior management roles at accountancy firms Ernst & Young and KPMG before joining The Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS) as a Director four years ago.
CCAB chairman Hilary Lindsay
Hilary Lindsay, president of ICAEW, has been appointed as the new chairman of CCAB, the combined group of the main UK accountancy bodies ICAEW, ACCA, ICAS, CIPFA and CA Ireland.

CIPFA president
Brian Roberts has been named the new CIPFA president. Roberts is the director of corporate resources at Leicestershire County Council. He takes over from John Matheson.
Speaking on the appointment, Rob Whiteman, CIPFA CEO, said: “With his experience and commitment, Brian is superbly placed to take on this role. CIPFA, its members and all those working in public finance will benefit from his leadership.”
IFRS Foundation Monitoring Board Chair
Ryozo Himino, vice minister of International affairs of the Japan Financial Services Agency (FSA) has been appointed as the new chair of the IFRS Foundation Monitoring Board. He takes over from Masamichi Kono, who has stepped down from the position. Himino will serve the remainder of Kono’s term which ends February 2017.
