Baker Tilly International has confirmed to International Accounting Bulletin that its Italian member firm Studio Maurizio Godoli is serving its notice and will no longer be a member of the international network as of September 2015.
Studio Maurizio Godoli is one of Baker Tilly International’s two firms in Italy, the other member being Baker Tilly Revisa.
A spokesperson for Baker Tilly International told International Accounting Bulletin that Studio Maurizio Godoli had failed to comply with the network Quality Assurance Programme and as such had been asked to leave the network.
"Our remaining member firm, Baker Tilly Revisa, is doing extremely well and we remain in a strong position in Italy," the spokesperson said.
According to International Accounting Bulletin latest Italian survey Baker Tilly Revisa ranked as the ninth largest single firm with reported fee income of €14.7m ($15.9m). Baker Tilly International reported total fee income in Italy of €19.3m in FY14.
However International Accounting Bulletin was told by a source in Italy that Studio Maurizio Godoli’s departure was due to a disagreement between its partners and Baker Tilly Revisa’s partners. The two firms share the same building for their offices and according to this person, the disagreement was such that both partners could no longer work together and hence Studio Maurizio Godoli decided to leave.
