Scottish football club Celtic plc will hold its annual general meeting (AGM) today, 16 November, and is expected to reappoint BDO as its external auditor and confirm a former Deloitte employee as financial director.
Amongst a series of resolutions, shareholders will be required to vote on reconducting BDO as the club’s external auditors and confirming Christopher McKay as financial director.
Celtic’s notice of AGM reads: “The Board, taking account of the recommendations of the audit committee, is satisfied that the performance of BDO LLP continues to meet the necessary standards. Accordingly this resolution proposes the appointment of BDO LLP as auditors and follows normal practice in giving authority to the Board to determine their fees.”
McKay was appointed by the board as financial director effective 1 January 2016 but he is required to stand for election to be confirmed into the position.
McKay qualified as a chartered accountant with Deloitte in 2000 and has since then held various senior positions in the financial advisory area.
