Abacus Worldwide has appointed Ana Carolina Born from Brazilian member firm Born Auditores Associados, as the new co-chair of its Audit Special Interest Group (ASIG).

In the new role, Born will work alongside Yeong Seng Lim from Singaporean member firm KLP LLP Chartered Accountants.

Together, they will lead the global group, guiding members from various countries in their collaborative efforts.

A global group of independent accounting, consulting and legal firms, Abacus Worldwide provides them with resources to thrive in the current complex business landscape.

The association’s goal is to help member firms expand their services both locally and internationally by linking them with the appropriate partners in strategic locations.

The ASIG, a key component of the international association of independent accounting, consulting, and legal firms, is dedicated to fostering technical discussions among members.

These ASIGs hold quarterly meetings both online and in person, offering a platform for members to delve into more technical topics.

They focus on tax, audit, mergers and acquisitions, and legal issues.

In addition, the groups engage in ongoing knowledge sharing through Abacus Connect, the association’s online member portal.

The latest move follows the addition of AFC Chartered Accountants, an Afghan accounting firm based in Kabul, to Abacus Worldwide’s international association of independent accounting, consulting, and legal firms.

AFC provides audit, tax, and accounting services, as well as customised financial solutions.

Additionally, Abacus Worldwide added CharterGroup, a UK-based alliance of independent chartered accountants and professional service firms, as a new member.

In June 2024, Paraguay accounting firm Jacquet & Asociados joined Abacus Worldwide.
