Construction Begins on $300M Deloitte University in Texas
Deloitte has begun building a
state-of-the-art learning and leadership development facility in
the US town of Westlake, Texas.
Deloitte University’s 750,000 square-foot
campus will be built on 107 acres and comprise 35 classrooms and
informal learning spaces, 800 onsite guest rooms, meeting rooms and
conference facilities, networking, dining and social venues, and
recreational facilities including a fitness centre.
The facility will cost the network an
estimated $300 million and is due to open in 2011.
Deloitte University will provide employees
with complex technical and industry skills, and professional and
leadership capabilities at various stages of a professional’s
growth.
Deloitte said the facility will utilise
‘leading-edge techniques’ such as reality-based simulations,
leader-led experiences, case studies and social learning. Deloitte
global chief executive Jim Quigley said the learning centre will
provide the network with a competitive advantage over its
rivals.
“In 5 to 10 years time, I believe the firm
that you’re going to see will not only have closed the gap but they
will also have widened the gap on all of its competitors and one of
the reasons is going to be that commitment to talent, that
investment in our people and that investment in our culture,” he
said.
