Grant Thornton UK has promoted Andrew Charter to the role of chief client officer for the South West and Wales.  

Charter has nearly a decade of experience as an M&A executive at the firm.

In the new role, Charter will lead the regional team and contribute nationally across the industrial and facilities management sectors.

Charter will be primarily based in the firm’s Bristol and Cardiff offices. His recent accomplishments include overseeing the successful sale of Taylor Maxwell to Brickability, a transaction that garnered the AIM Transaction of the Year award.

Charter said: “We have a fantastic team here in the South West and Wales, and I look forward to continuing to build on our strengths.

“They are also important regions that support the UK’s economic growth and have many excellent businesses that attract significant interest from domestic and international investors.”

Furthermore, Grant Thornton has appointed Chillie Squance to the corporate finance team as an assistant manager.

Squance, who also has M&A experience, will operate from the Cardiff and Bristol offices.

In April 2024, the FRC’s Enforcement Committee determined that Grant Thornton UK did not adhere to the Regulatory Framework for Auditing when auditing a local authority’s pension fund for the year that ended on 31 March 2021.

This follows an inspection by the Financial Reporting Council’s (FRC) Audit Quality Review (AQR) team and in accordance with the Auditor Regulatory Sanctions Procedure.
