BDO International has appointed Stephen Darley, former regional director of PKF International, as the networks Asia Pacific chief executive.
BDO International said the position of Asia-Pacific chief executive is a newly created position and is part of a drive by BDO, "to lead, support, implement and drive strategic initiatives in the Asia Pacific region at international level".
Darley acted as PKF International’s regional director for over four years and has previously worked for Standard Chartered Bank, RSM and KPMG.
As Asia Pacific chief executive, Darley will be responsible for the operational oversight of the entire region, including market analysis, practice management and the development of our member firms, as well as business development initiatives.
He will work from the BDO Hong Kong office and will also assume the role of chairman of BDO’s Asia Pacific board.
In the past year BDO International entered into three mergers with PKF International member firms. BDO merged with PKF Australia East Coast practice in the summer of 2012, which was followed by the announced merger of BDO UK and PKF UK in November and several PKF China staff joined BDO China.
