RSM International has added Baker Tilly Ryan Glennon to its network, effective 3 May 2016, and is expected to re-enter the top 10 in Ireland.
The network had lost its former member firm, RSM Farrell Grant Sparks, to Grant Thornton last summer and was left without Irish representation since then.
Baker Tilly Ryan Glennon is headquartered in Dublin and counts 12 partners and 120 staff. The firm will be taking on 20 people this year and plans to expand its workforce by 50% over the next five years, according to RSM International. In FY14 it reported total fee income of €15.6m ($17.7m) and was the ninth largest firm in Ireland.
The firm provides assurance and audit, tax, corporate restructuring, risk advisory, transaction support and outsourced accounting and compliance services and has substantial experience in both the public and private sectors.
Jean Stephens, CEO of RSM International, said: "It is critical that we have a strong firm in Ireland that can support our delivery of global client services, particularly with Ireland’s largest trading partners ¬- the US and the European Union."
John Glennon, managing partner of Baker Tilly Ryan Glennon said: "We already have a fantastic relationship with RSM’s UK and US firms and we are looking forward to working with other RSM firms around the world in delivering services to our ever expanding international client base. All business is global now, and we are responding to that by teaming up with one of the global leaders in servicing the needs of mid-market businesses."

By GlobalData"Whilst we are disappointed with Baker Tilly Ryan Glennon’s decision, we remain confident that the network is stronger than any single member firm. We will be replacing the firm and an announcement will be made once the formalities relating to a new member firm are completed," Geoff Barnes, CEO and president, Baker Tilly International said. "In the meantime, Baker Tilly Mooney Moore, our member firm in Northern Ireland who is not involved in this development and continues to be a member of Baker Tilly International, can provide client services across both the Republic of Ireland and Northern Ireland."
The move is still subject to regulatory approval.
